In addition to community based training, health fairs, and the annual education conference, the Chapter holds four major fund-raising events each year: An Evening to Remember (auction and gala); A Tasteful Evening (chefs' dinner); Memory Walk (community event) and A Team (run/walk event).

     Event: Spring Estates Annual Spring Fling Senior Health Fair
Location: Spring Estates Senior Living
Time: 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Come see the Alzheimer's Association booth! This health fair will provide you with the opportunity to talk with several local health and wellness professionals, as well as listen to guest speakers. In addition, there will be a free BBQ and a very special appearance by the Seattle Mariner Moose from 1-2 pm. Spring Estates Senior Living is located at 7221 NE 182nd St in Kenmore.      Event: Lifting the Clouds: Addressing Depression in Older Adults
Location: Cedarbrook Conference Center
Time: 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM

Washington Alliance for Healthy Aging presents the 6th Annual Healthy Aging Summit. Summit objectives include: understand current trends in depression and aging, promote and advance screening and early detection of depression, increase knowledge of effective community-based treatment models, learn about successful approaches among service providers, and recognize and discuss barriers to mental health for older adults. The cost is $75 per person and includes materials, breakfast, lunch, snacks and beverages. The Cedarbrook Conference Center is located at 18525 36th Ave S in SeaTac.      Event: Challenges in Caregiving: Giving Care, Taking Care
Location: Tukwila Community Center

This full-day training conference allows you to choose from many helpful workshops based on your needs as a caregiver. Dr. Patt Schwab, an inspiring and internationally known speaker, will give the keynote presentation. Dr. Schwab's fresh perspective will help you to look at your caregiving challenges and identify what really matters. Youll learn how to use humor to reduce stress and achieve more balance in your life. Early registration fee is $25 for family and volunteer caregivers, $50 for agency-based caregivers.      Event: The Keys to Communication and Difficult Symptoms
Location: Alzheimer's Association, 12721 30th Ave. Seattle
Time: 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM

The Keys to Communication and The Keys to Difficult Symptoms are parts of an advanced professional training program developed from the evidence-based Quality Dementia Care Practice Recommendations by the National Alzheimer’s Association. If you are experiencing agitation and/or resistance, than this is the class for you. In this class, participants will learn how changes in the brain contribute to different behaviors and communication limitations. Using interactive hands-on techniques, participants will practice ways to improve communication and model problem-solving behaviors. We offer 3 Continuing Education Hours.
