Cameron CampThis year’s keynote is Cameron Camp, PhD, noted psychologist specializing in applied research in gerontology. He currently serves as Director of Research for the Center for Applied Research in Dementia. Dr. Camp is the creator of Montessori-Based Dementia Programming, an innovative approach to activities programming that combines rehabilitation principles and educational techniques using the physical and cognitive abilities available to individuals. Camp gives workshops on designing cognitive and behavioral interventions for dementia internationally. These interventions are all designed to reduce challenging behaviors and increase the level of function of persons with dementia. Camp’s keynote: Interventions for Dementia: Lessons from Montessori & Neuroscience - Will help us approach dementia differently. Dementia is described as a disability, rather than as a disease. Effective interventions for dementia are designed to capitalize on strengths and circumvent deficits. Such interventions represent effective treatment for responsive behaviors often present in persons with dementia.
